Autumn activities including ART and BEING ACTIVE with our little friends.....

Art with friends-

The Early years foundation Stage E.Y.F.S   -

colour mixing

We are learning our colours and
experimenting with colour mixing paints that we choose ourselves.

We have learnt about primary colours and investigated what happens when you mix them.

  • Do you know the names of the primary colors?
  • Can you spot primary colours around you?
  • What colours can you make when you mix the primary colours together?
  • Have you tried to mix primary colours with paint, chalk, food dye, felt tip pen or play dough?
  • Do you know all the colours in the rainbow?

Learning Through Physical Play

We played musical bumps and statues and after danced to music while having fun patting our heads and rubbing our tummies at the same time. Co ordination skills are difficult but fun.

Children develop in a holistic manner. Physical development should be seen as being important in young children’s development as intellectual development. Research has shown that physical activity in young children can enhance concentration, motivation, learning and well-being. Generally, our lives have become more inactive and our children have less opportunity for physical activity each day. The reasons for our increased inactivity include:
 • Excessive television viewing,
 • Fewer family members to play with,
 • Fewer safe outside play areas,

Large Muscle Development – gross motor and locomotor skills

Teachers and educators like myself can provide many opportunities for physical play to promote fine and gross motor skills and hand / eye coordination.
Children enjoy physical play, indoors and outdoors.
They revel in freedom of movement and in play that is inventive, adventurous and stimulating.
Children also learn social skills as they cooperate with one another and show consideration for one another.

Coordination usually refers to whether a child can get the arms and legs to work together in a coordinated, effective way.

In addition, many tasks which require coordinated movement also require the child to have good motor planning to time their movements accurately.

We had a visit to the Park. The children had lots of fun taking turns participating in the activity stations
including: football, bat and ball, bug hunting and relay race games, and afterwards, balloon fun. We had snack and enjoyed the fresh air and exercise!
